Ever since Talia was little, she always wanted to explore the far reaches of space. When the war on against the covenant started and they came to her family's home of Arcadia, she and her brother were only 11. They wanted to protect the family and the rest of humanity, but the age minimum stopped them. Ivan took them in, and they grew up as brothers and sisters, but as their "family" expanded, Ivan seemed to come out as more of a father figure, which doesn't come as a shock knowing that most of the children had been orphans since really young ages.
